PetSmart Associate Assistance Foundation

Life can be unpredictable, and we want to be there for our associates during unforeseen and challenging times. The PetSmart Associate Assistance Foundation (PAAF) offers financial support to associates facing short-term, unforeseen hardships, such as natural disasters or personal emergencies. The PAAF exemplifies our commitment to caring for our PetSmart family when they need it most. It’s also heartwarming to see how many associates and leaders make regular contributions to the PAAF to support one another.  Since its inception, we have granted over $7M to more than 5,000 associates.

In late March 2023, a tornado destroyed the home of Stephanie, a member of our distribution center team in Newnan, Georgia. Stephanie was able to get her family to safety, but when the storm had passed she found they had lost all their belongings and vehicles. The PAAF was there to help Stephanie and her family rebuild. "PetSmart made sure we understood they were going to help us. The whole HR department was there for me. They helped me through the process of an application for PAAF. They helped pay for our rooms. They made sure we had food. They went and purchased me clothes, shoes—everything I needed to come back and be productive. When I began donating to the Associate Fund, I never thought, ever, that I would need their help."

Tuition Reimbursement Program

Continuing education is a valuable investment in our associates' future. PetSmart’s Tuition Reimbursement Program supports associates who wish to pursue additional training or degrees, covering a portion of the tuition costs. This program not only aids in professional growth but also helps associates advance their careers within PetSmart. The Tuition Reimbursement program offers up to $3,500/year for eligible full-time and part-time associates. To qualify, associates must have worked an average of eight hours a week for the past six months, be in good standing, and pursue degrees aligned with their current or future roles at PetSmart.

This is just one of the ways we deliver on our Corporate Social Responsibility goal to provide upskilling opportunities to more than 40,000 associates each year to help them grow their careers with PetSmart.  

Employee Assistance Program - Ally

Through Ally, our employee assistance program (EAP), we’re here when our associates need us most. We offer a variety of helpful resources to support associates and their families throughout different stages of life. From managing stress to addressing financial challenges and learning how to make positive health changes, these programs are available for all PetSmart associates.
