Nikki has been an invaluable member of the PetSmart pack since 2019 and we're lucky to have her as part of #LifeAtPetSmart! Working in our Call Center, Nikki helps to coordinate and serves as a line of communication for our hardworking agents and pet parents. She took the time to share a bit of her story with us. Tell us a bit about your PetSmart journey – where did you start, where are you now, and how did you get there?
Nikki: In 2019, I started as a Temp for TAC. I came in knowing that it was a temporary position, but saw all the wonderful things the company did to acknowledge and celebrate the different cultures that I fell in love and wanted to work for PetSmart full-time. I heard about the HR Coordinator role and did a lot of networking, spoke to everyone about the position to let them know how interested I was in the company and I was able to interview for the role and got the position. Now I am the HR
Coordinator for the SRC.
Tell us about your pets!
Nikki: I am the aunt to Dexter the cat. She is my sister’s boyfriend’s cat. He is as sassy as they come. I am not a cat person. I only like him.
Why do you enjoy your life at PetSmart or what are some of your favorite parts?
Nikki: I love a company that celebrates and acknowledges the difference of its employees. The way PetSmart has gone above and beyond to support people of color—creating MOSAIC to have an impact on the company as a whole and the community. I also love my HR Team, I’ve never felt more welcomed and as part of a team as I do here.
What’s something interesting about your department or role that most people don’t know about?
Nikki: They have various contests—a couple years ago each team decorated their section for the holiday as a chance to win prizes. We are the only call center that covers all the stores in the US and also Canada.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
Nikki: I spent 6 summers working at a Fishery in Alaska. By far the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
